U.S. CBP lifts “withhold release order” on certain disposable gloves from Malaysia
Certain disposable gloves will no longer be detained at U.S. ports of entry
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) today announced the modification of the “withhold release order” (WRO) against certain disposable gloves produced in Malaysia.
According to today’s CBP release, effective immediately, certain disposable gloves from Malaysia will be allowed entry into the United States and will no longer be detained at U.S. ports of entry, provided they comply with all other U.S. laws.
The original WRO was issued in December 2021 based on evidence indicating that working conditions exposed workers to 10 of the 11 International Labour Organization forced labor indicators. Since then, the company in Malaysia has taken actions to fully remediate these issues.
