The order restricts the Russian airline from participating in export-related activities.
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce today released a notice to renew, for one year, the temporary denial order (TDO) against an airline based in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
The original TDO was issued in October 2022 and subsequently renewed in April and October 2023.
This renewal, under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), is deemed necessary to prevent imminent violations of export controls because the Russian airline has been found to repeatedly violate these regulations by operating aircraft subject to the EAR without the required authorization, both internationally and domestically within Russia. The renewal order aims to prevent further violations and to notify entities globally to avoid transactions with the Russian airline involving items subject to the EAR. The order restricts the Russian airline from participating in any export-related activities, except those directly related to safety of flight and authorized by BIS.
The order is effective immediately and will remain in effect for one year.
