Italy: Proposal to remove digital service tax revenue thresholds
The proposal would be effective from January 1, 2025.
The draft 2025 budget law, which was approved by the government on October 15, 2024, and submitted to Parliament, includes a proposal to remove the revenue thresholds for purposes of the Italian digital service tax (DST), which would significantly widen the base of taxable persons.
The proposal does not include any transitional period, and the provisions of the budget law generally would be effective from January 1, 2025.
The proposal will be discussed in Parliament over the coming weeks and is subject to change.
