The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced that two entities from China have been added to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List, increasing the total to 75.

According to the DHS release, the newly listed entities are involved in iron ore mining and steel manufacturing, and the production of aspartame. This is the first time steel and aspartame companies have been added to the UFLPA Entity List.

Effective October 3, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will presume that goods from these companies are produced with forced labor and will prohibit their entry into the United States.

Today’s announcement also includes a technical correction as one previously announced entity has changed its name.
