KPMG Women’s PGA Championship to feature advanced real-time, shot-level data, AI-powered predictive analytics and T-Mobile’s 5G Solutions
Sammamish, WA (Jun. 18 2024) – KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax, and advisory firm, T-Mobile, and the PGA of America today announced a new collaboration to drive technology innovation in women’s golf to enhance the experience of athletes, fans and the media. With the enhancements of real-time, shot-level data, AI-powered predictive analytics, and T-Mobile's 5G solutions, the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will be the most statistically advanced and 5G-connected event ever on the LPGA Tour.
“Through the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, KPMG and the PGA of America have continued to elevate women’s golf through purse growth, expanded broadcast coverage via our partnership with NBC and the Golf Channel, and access to world-class major championship venues like Sahalee,” said KPMG U.S. Chair and CEO Paul Knopp. “In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the KPMG Women’s Championship, this new collaboration with T-Mobile is the latest milestone in our effort to advance the women’s game by utilizing and integrating the latest technology.”
Technology enhancements for the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship include:
- KPMG CHAMPCAST presented by T-Mobile: Using the same cutting-edge ShotLink Pro 2.0 technology from the PGA TOUR, KPMG CHAMPCAST presented by T-Mobile will bring fans an immersive experience to follow each athlete in the field at Sahalee Country Club. With features like 3D imagery, radar data, shot trails, green views and individual shot video highlights, fans can get closer to the action than ever. This will be the first PGA of America Championship of any kind to provide fans with the digital KPMG CHAMPCAST presented by T-Mobile experience online and via the championship’s brand-new mobile app.
- KPMG Performance Insights: In 2021, KPMG spearheaded a major statistical evolution for the LPGA Tour with the launch of KPMG Performance Insights, which provided access to advanced data and analytics such as strokes gained for the first time in women’s golf. This year’s enhancements to KPMG Performance Insights for the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will provide the athletes, fans and media with access to this data in real time.
As the newest Official Partner of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, T-Mobile's 5G solutions are revamping the event’s technological infrastructure.
“T-Mobile is helping to deliver an equitable fan experience with more experiences, more data, and more views of the action,” said Callie Field, President, T-Mobile Business Group. “T-Mobile’s 5G solutions create operational efficiencies that connects fans to the game like never before through real-time scoring and data. This technology infrastructure is the foundation that enables us to collectively drive innovation, and we're proud to work with the PGA of America to drive the game forward and deliver incredible, unforgettable experiences to fans and players alike."
- T-Mobile 5G Solutions Deliver Enhanced Experiences: In addition to the technology that T-Mobile is providing to support KPMG CHAMPCAST presented by T-Mobile, T-Mobile 5G solutions are bringing enhancements to the course to create a better experience for fans and the PGA of America’s Championship operations.
“We take great pride in what the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship has represented and how together we continue to innovate for women’s golf,” said Seth Waugh, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of America. “This year epitomizes that spirit with our great partners at KPMG championing this cutting-edge initiative. The players are the true stars of the show this week at Sahalee, but it is exciting to showcase this initiative right in the backyard of so many leaders in the technology industry.”
“Advancing technology is key to achieving equity for the women’s game and women’s sports more broadly,” said LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan. “We are grateful to the commitment of KPMG, T-Mobile and our partners at the PGA of America to help tell the story of the LPGA Tour athletes more holistically and more accurately than ever before. The talent on our Tour is incredible and a technology solution like KPMG CHAMPCAST presented by T-Mobile, combined with our season-long KPMG Performance Insights platform, will help take our game to the next level.”
