KPMG ambassador earns seventh career WTA singles victory
Jessica Pegula is officially on the board in 2025!
Winning Sunday's ATX Open final in straight sets over fellow American McCartney Kessler, Pegula earned her first victory of the 2025 season and her seventh career WTA singles title.
"It was a really tough match today," Pegula said. "Tough conditions, but I was able to get through it. I'm really excited to get the title here."
Pegula was tested early in Sunday's final, going down a break at 2-4 in the first set, but rallied back with two big service breaks to take it 7-5. After going down a break in the first game of the second set, Pegula reeled off four consecutive games and never looked back, comfortably winning the second set, 6-2.
Currently sitting at No. 4 overall in the WTA World Rankings, Pegula held the top seed this week in Austin and put on a dazzling display for the American fans, dropping only one set over the course of five matches. The ATX Open title is Pegula's first since capturing the 2024 Canadian Open in Toronto, and her first on American soil in six years. Pegula will look to carry the momentum into next week's BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA, annually one of the marquee events of the early season.
Congratulations, Jess!
