Anne Zavarella has been named co-Leader of the KPMG Board Leadership Center (BLC), effective immediately. Anne will work alongside BLC co-Leader John Rodi to champion outstanding corporate governance while sharing insights with boards and business leaders about the challenges and opportunities shaping the boardroom agenda.
“As the new co-Leader of the KPMG Board Leadership Center, I look forward to working with boards as they delve into the crucial matters that influence their business. From tax and regulatory priorities to the audit committee's unwavering attention to financial reporting and internal controls, boards must embrace their oversight and corporate governance procedures to navigate through disruption and uncertainty," said Anne Zavarella, co-Leader of the KPMG Board Leadership Center. "Amidst an ever-evolving environment, our BLC stands ready to empower boards with the necessary information and insights to address these pressing questions."
Anne has more than 20 years of experience engaging with company boards and management including serving as Audit Sector Leader for Industrial Manufacturing IM and as Global Lead Partner for a Fortune 500 consumer brand. Anne completed a rotation in the KPMG Department of Professional Practice, is an instructor of KPMG national training courses and participated in the Firm’s Quality Performance and Compliance Program.
As co-Leader, Anne will help shape the BLC’s strategy to engage Boards, Audit Committees and business leaders around topics critical to enhancing stakeholder confidence and driving trust in the capital markets. Anne will primarily focus on corporate governance, risk management, and Board effectiveness.
Anne's passion for driving diversity and inclusion in the boardroom will also be instrumental in advancing the BLC’s commitment to promoting diverse perspectives and experiences. Diversity in corporate boardrooms—including gender, race, ethnicity, age, and professional backgrounds—fosters improved decision making and ultimately drives organizational success. At present, women hold 34% of S&P 500 board seats and the average aggregate share of racially/ethnically diverse directors is 26%.
Under John and Anne’s leadership, the BLC will continue to serve as a trusted resource for board directors and senior executives, offering a wide range of resources, publications, and events designed to enhance board effectiveness and deliver organizational success.
