Aftab’s focus at KPMG is commodity and fuel markets, where he uses his industry-developed acumen to lead implementation of data analytics and modeling based solutions in supply chain optimization in commodity markets. This includes value chain optimization across upstream and downstream oil & gas markets, logistics and transportation operations, storage modeling, distillation and blend economics as well as fuel procurement and operations. He also a deep understanding of market price risk and derivatives used to manage market price risk. His broader risk management includes managing credit risk, cash flow at risk, regulatory risk and strategies to manage earnings volatility.
Aftab’s experience spans multiple global commodities including crude oil, jet fuel, bunker fuel, diesel, gasoline, natural gas and power. He is deeply familiar with logistics using pipelines, pipeline linespace, truck, rail and vessels for managing the transportation of fuel. He has a strong understanding of derivatives, inventory management and systems platforms used to manage the end to end processes across the supply chain.
