Andrew leads the KPMG Indirect Tax practice in Chicago and has over 35 years of professional work experience, 25 years of which are in State and Local Tax. Andrew works extensively with software/service providers, manufacturers, alternative energy producers and retailers on a national basis and has deep technical expertise in transactional based taxes throughout the United States. He has extensive experience with the City of Chicago Home Rule Taxes and is the KPMG State Tax Resource Network specialist for the state of Illinois.
Prior to concentrating exclusively in indirect transactional taxes, Andrew specialized in income and franchise taxes for financial services and closely held businesses. Andrew has significant state and local tax experience in multi-state tax issues involving mergers and acquisitions, state and local tax audits, real estate transfer taxes and noted experience with the Chicago Lease Tax.
Andrew’s industry experience is equally extensive, serving industries ranging from large manufacturers (Fortune 100), alternative energy providers (solar, wind farms and biomass), financial services companies (banks, asset managers, broker-dealers, and REITs), insurance companies to closely held businesses. Andrew has authored several articles published in State Tax Notes Daily and the Chicago Business Journal and regularly instructs State & Local Tax Fundamentals for New Hires and State & Local Tax Boot Camp for Non-SALT Professionals. Andrew serves on the Board of Directors for The Taxpayer’s Federation of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois Department of Revenue Audit Advisory Committee and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association-State Tax Committee.
