Ben Oklan is a Managing Director in the Passthroughs group for the KPMG Washington National Tax practice with a focus on the taxation of real estate transactions. Ben specializes in complex tax matters involving public and private REITs, qualified opportunity zones, FIRPTA and other real estate transaction issues, with extensive experience spanning accounting, tax compliance, and tax controversy.
Before joining KPMG, Ben was a tax associate in the New York office of Weil, Gotshal and Manges, a major international law firm. Prior to that, he was a tax associate in the New York office of Herrick, Feinstein LLP and the New York office of Roberts & Holland LLP and a tax controversy associate in the New York office of Cooley LLP. He has advised a diverse clientele, including public and private companies, private equity funds, real estate developers, healthcare providers, non-profits, professional sports teams, family offices, and high net worth individuals.
