Sal has been a key team leader and member in executing advisory engagements across several industries, with a focus on manufacturing, healthcare and retail industries. He has served as a key team member in the execution of internal audits; Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 compliance, control risk assessments, controls rationalization, financial statement audits and project management for large advisory projects.

• Team leader for a global automotive client, managing resources and overseeing testing cycles for SOX 404 compliance requirements. Testing of controls resulted in developing and executing refined testing methodologies in accordance with management’s guidance to increase efficiency in testing and address risk attributes identified in complex control frameworks.
• Managed internal audit projects in a co-source relationship for a global automotive company in targeted areas focused around IT risks and tax compliance requirements.
• Managed internal audit projects as an outsourced internal audit department for a small health care company, identifying opportunities for automation to limit cost and providing recommendations for the compliance office.   
• Managed a project to establish controls for a consortium of small healthcare companies, focusing on identifying operational and financial risks and helping management design controls to mitigate these risks.
• Executed a controls rationalization project for a mid-sized retailer with global operations. Effective risk identification and control optimization resulted in a reduction of 22 percent of key controls for their SOX program.
• Designed a Center of Excellence for Account Reconciliations as part of a large finance transformation project for a utility company. The project involved creating a roadmap for implementation, policies and procedures, staffing plans and preparing job descriptions.
