Andrew Lau

Andrew Lau is a senior manager in the Tax Incentivized Transactions, Leasing, and Energy group of the KPMG Washington National Tax (WNT) practice. He focuses primarily on tax issues relating to tax credits, partnerships, including tax equity partnerships and Qualified Opportunity Funds.

For the past 13 years, Andrew has advised numerous companies and KPMG teams on partnership and other tax credits related transactions. As such, he works closely with the WNT Passthroughs group. His experience includes assisting companies in developing tax-efficient investment structures, including:

• Advising on transaction structures (including the so-called partnership flip)
• Performing due diligence reviews
• Preparing tax opinions
• Reviewing and commenting on partnership agreements
• Building and reviewing tax models
• Providing general federal income tax advice
• Conducting tax compliance planning and filing.

Prior to his current role,  Andrew was a senior manager for nice years in the KPMG  M&A tax group and financial services tax group in New York.

Andrew is a certified public accountant in New York and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He earned a BBA degree from Queens College and a MST degree from Fordham University.
