Tim Keeling

Tim has over 15 years of experience in transfer pricing, with over 3.5 years of experience in the ATO’s transfer pricing unit. As a result, Tim has extensive transfer pricing experience ‘on both sides of the desk’ and in this regard, has dealt with, and on behalf of the ATO in relation to APAs, transfer pricing risk reviews and transfer pricing audits.

Tim has significant transfer pricing experience in the financial services (“FS”) sector and works closely with large Australian banks, insurance companies, fund managers, private equity firms, sovereign wealth and pension plans, and other financial entities. At the ATO Tim had involvement in strategic and case matters in a number of FS areas including intra-group service arrangements, carried interest, insurance, institutional and retail banking, and funds management. This includes experience across all elements of relevant value chains such as capital raising, deal sourcing, research, and investment management.

At KPMG and the ATO, Tim has also led the transfer pricing aspects on a number of funding and FS projects and in this regard, has experience with respect to intra-group pricing for debt instruments such as shareholder loans as well as guarantee arrangements. Tim also has experience with other ‘arm’s length’ analyses relating to reinsurance arrangements and value chain analyses.
