Beverly Katz
Director, Passthroughs, Washington National Tax
Bev Katz focuses on transactional tax planning, including partnership acquisitions, dispositions and restructurings. Bev also specializes in structuring like-kind exchanges. She is the current chair of the Partnerships and LLCs Committee of the ABA Section of Taxation.
Prior to joining KPMG, Bev was with the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel for 15 years. Most recently, she spent six years as Special Counsel to the Associate Chief Counsel (Passthroughs & Special Industries). While at the IRS, she worked extensively on regulations and other guidance regarding partnership tax issues. Prior to joining the Office of Chief Counsel, Bev was a trial attorney at the Department of Justice, Tax Division, litigating tax matters across the country.
Bev has a JD degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami, School of Law and a BA degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida, School of Accountancy.

The Passthroughs group is responsible for providing insight to KPMG professionals and clients regarding the federal taxation of partnerships, real estate investment trusts, and S corporations across all major industries. In addition, the Passthroughs group advises in specialty areas such as like-kind exchanges, oil and gas, leasing, and excise taxes. Client services include transaction structuring, the issuance of opinions, and requesting private letter rulings.
