Stephen Herrera

Mr. Herrera is a Managing Director with KPMG US, supporting the Defense Advisory practice. He has over 35 years of Defense financial management experience. He was formerly a career Department of the Air Force civilian and a member of the Senior Executive Service. He recently retired from the position of Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Financial Management and Comptroller, Department of the Air Force. He was responsible for overseeing the budgeting, cost estimating and financial operations of more than $193 billion in annual resources supporting Department of the Air Force priorities in accordance with Congressional, Secretary of Defense, and Secretary of the Air Force direction. He was also responsible for the professional development of more than 13,000 military and civilian Air Force financial management community members.

Mr. Herrera is a member of the Society of Defense Financial Management and holds a position on the National Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Air Force Association and the Air Commando Association. He earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master's of Science in Management from Troy University, completed Air War College through Air University, and is a Senior Fellow with the Council for Excellence in Government. He is a Certified Defense Financial Manager (Acquisition).
