Advisory Managing Director, Accounting Advisory Services
Irina Guberuk is a Managing Director in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services group within the Deal Advisory and Strategy practice. With over 18 years of experience, she provides a broad range of US GAAP and IFRS accounting services, specializing in transaction analysis, accounting implementation, and accounting change support. Irina works closely with clients in the banking, capital markets, asset management, fintech and digital asset industries, offering invaluable insights to help them navigate complex financial landscapes and optimize their financial strategies.
Throughout her career at KPMG, Irina has worked extensively on technical accounting, financial reporting, and SEC reporting engagements. She has advised CFOs, CAOs, and Controllers on finance and accounting readiness, M&A transactions, IPO projects, and large-scale transformation initiatives. Additionally, she has led engagements focused on documenting accounting policies and procedures and drafting SEC pre-clearance letters.
Irina spent five years in KPMG’s National Office – Department of Professional Practice (DPP) supporting engagement teams and clients with the interpretation and application of accounting standards. She was a key member of the Financial Assets and Services, Consolidation, Digital Assets, and Restatement topic teams. Her responsibilities included addressing technical accounting questions, performing financial statement reviews, conducting IFRS pre-issuance reviews, and addressing regulatory banking matters. She regularly collaborated with the SEC, FASB, AICPA Depository and Lending Institutions Expert Panel, federal banking regulators, and other accounting firms to discuss emerging accounting and industry issues.
Prior to joining DPP, Irina completed a fellowship at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a federal banking regulator, where she served as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant. In this role, Irina led efforts to monitor preparedness and readiness for the implementation of the current expected credit losses (CECL) methodology across regional, mid-size and large banks. Irina also provided financial institutions and examination teams with accounting support on complex transactions, conducted target examinations on emerging accounting issues, and assisted with the implementation of new accounting standards.
