Joel Garcia

Joel is the Actuarial Lead Partner of KPMG Brazil. He has 24 years of experience in the insurance and pension industries having worked in some of the largest insurance companies in Brazil before he joined KPMG in 2014. Joel is the Lead Partner for IFRS17 advisory services at KPMG Brazil.

He has strong expertise in actuarial liabilities modeling, asset and liability management (ALM), Liability Adequacy Tests (LAT), Solvency II requirements, Data Analytics and Brazilian and international actuarial and accounting standards.

• Actuary degree (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS);
• Member of Brazilian Actuarial Association - IBA.
• MBA in Financial Management (Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV));
• Member of Brazilian Actuarial Committees for actuarial standards of health, insurance and pension.;
• Professor of actuarial and insurance risk management;
