Steve Estes

Steve leads the KPMG US SOX services and KPMG SOX Center of Excellence, overseeing the development of thought leadership, best practices, tools and methodologies. Steve has more than 35 years of experience in providing advisory risk management and SOX services to clients.

Steve has led numerous SOX implementation and compliance projects for domestic and international companies. His responsibilities have included program design, control rationalization, project management, documentation of significant processes, development and execution of test plans, remediation of gaps, facilitation of the evaluation of control deficiencies, and management reporting. This experience has covered a number of different industries with particular focus on energy and oil & gas clients.

Steve’s experience extends beyond SOX from his experience serving as the Partner for internal audit outsourcing and co-sourcing engagements where he worked with clients in the establishing, transforming and strategic sourcing the internal audit function; enterprise risk management; ESG risk management and compliance; joint venture and third-party risk; corporate governance, IPO readiness and integration; board governance and audit committee relations; and business transformation.
