Katherine Breaks, a principal in the KPMG Washington National Tax practice, advises companies on federal energy tax incentives. She also advises companies on the impact of federal tax legislation and associated guidance.
She has advised dozens of companies on energy tax credits. Her work comprised of assisting companies in developing tax-efficient investment structures, including advising on transactions involving the so-called “flip structure” and “inverted lease,” performing due diligence reviews, providing risk assessments, preparing tax opinions, reviewing financial models, and providing general federal income tax advice.
Katherine completed her BA degree from Yale University and earned JD degree from New York University School of Law. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association as well as the American Bar Association. She has also served as the Chair of the Capital Recovery and Leasing Committee of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association.
