Lisa Madden is the Vice Chair – Risk Management at KPMG LLP, overseeing risk management, independence, audit inspections, and the firm's enterprise risk management process. She also serves as the Americas Regional Risk Management Partner and is a member of both the U.S. Management Committee and the Americas Management Committee.
Lisa previously was the National Managing Partner of Risk Management, the co-lead of the International Tax practice, and the leader of the Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Practice at KPMG.
Prior to these leadership roles, Lisa practiced as a partner within the Corporate group of KPMG’s Washington National Tax practice. She advised clients on all aspects of mergers and acquisitions, corporate divisions, cross-border reorganizations, attribute carryovers, liquidations, and redemptions.
From 2002 until 2007, she also served as the Managing Partner of the Washington National Tax practice.
Before joining Washington National Tax in 1993, she worked in KPMG’s Boston office, serving clients in the retail and manufacturing industries.
Lisa has served on KPMG’s Legal, Risk, & Regulatory Committee since 2009.
She previously served on the Corporations & Shareholders Taxation Technical Resource Panel of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Lisa has authored articles in several professional journals, including the Journal of Taxation (“New Guidelines for Spin-off Rulings Bring Consistency and Predictability but Problems Remain” – July 1996), Corporate Business Taxation Monthly (monthly column on corporate reorganizations), and the Journal of Corporate Taxation (“Another Clark Expedition: Navigating Uncharted Waters" – 1997).
She holds a M.B.A. and B.S. in mathematics from Tulane University and is a licensed CPA.
