Olympic Games 2024: Entry and work formalities for arriving foreign national workers

August 2024 | by Albane Eglinger, Xavier Carsin, and Pierre Malnati, KPMG Avocats in France (KPMG Avocats in France is a KPMG International member firm)

From July 26, 2024 to August 11, 2024, the Olympic Games will take place, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 28, 2024 to September 8, 2024. With the arrival of numerous foreign nationals for these events, the French authorities have been working tirelessly to ensure smooth immigration and labor law processes.

To accommodate the influx of visitors, the French government has made significant modifications to immigration practices and policies. One notable development is the establishment of the Olympic Consulate in Nantes, dedicated to handling the immigration needs of the "Olympic family". Additionally, the France-Visas.gouv.fr website now offers a streamlined process for Schengen visa applicants invited by the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games.

But it's not just athletes, coaches, and officials who will be flocking to France. The Games are expected to attract foreign national workers in various sectors, including private security, events management, and hospitality. Even foreign companies, such as TV networks and the press, may need to send employees to provide services during the Games. Read the full article for a deeper dive into the immigration and labor law requirements.
