U.S. BIS renews denial of export privileges for Russian airline
The renewed temporary denial order restricts transactions involving the airline for one year.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has renewed a temporary denial order (TDO) against a Russian airline under section 766.24 of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The order is effective immediately and remains in effect for one year.
BIS found that the airline continued to operate aircraft subject to the EAR on international and domestic routes involving Russia in violation of the previously issued TDO and/or the EAR. According to BIS, the violations were significant and deliberate and demonstrated a pattern of repeated, ongoing, and/or continuous apparent violations.
The renewed order prohibits the airline, and persons acting on its behalf, from participating in transactions involving certain items subject to the EAR. The order also prohibits others from engaging in specified transactions involving the airline and covered items, subject to limited BIS-authorized exceptions directly related to safety of flight.
