South Africa: Fuel levy relief extended to June 2026

Extension of temporary fuel levy relief measures

June 24, 2026

The South African Minister of Finance issued a media statement (on April 28, 2026) proposing an extension of temporary fuel levy relief measures.

The proposal would extend the ZAR 3 per litre reduction for petrol until June 2, 2026, and increase diesel relief to ZAR 3.93 per litre, temporarily reducing the levy to zero.

The relief would be reduced from June 3, 2026, with lower per litre reductions for petrol and diesel before a full return to standard levy rates from July 1, 2026.
