The European Commission (EC) today announced a “call for evidence” as part of its initiative to simplify EU rules on direct taxation. The EC intends to propose an omnibus directive in direct taxation by June 2026 to streamline and clarify existing corporate tax directives.

According to the EC release, the call for evidence seeks feedback on administrative costs, burdensome procedures, outdated or overlapping rules, and any lack of clarity or differences in rule interpretation.

Stakeholders may provide feedback until March 16, 2026.
