United States postpones increase in tariffs on imports of certain wood products

Increase in tariffs on upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities postponed to January 1, 2027

The White House on December 31, 2025, posted a proclamation signed by President Trump postponing to January 1, 2027, the increase in tariffs on upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities scheduled to take effect under Proclamation 10976 (dated September 29, 2025) on January 1, 2026.

Proclamation 10976 imposed a 10% tariff on certain softwood timber and lumber, as well as a 25% tariff on certain upholstered wooden products (scheduled to increase to 30% on January 1, 2026) and a 25% tariff on kitchen cabinets and vanities (scheduled to increase to 50% on January 1, 2026). Those scheduled tariff increases have now been postponed to January 1, 2027.
