President Trump signed into law H.R. 998, the “Internal Revenue Service Math and Taxpayer Help Act,” which requires the IRS to provide taxpayers with additional information relating to assessments resulting from math errors.

The bill was passed by the House of Representatives on March 31, 2025, and passed by the Senate on October 20, 2025.
