Jess Pegula claims victory at 2026 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships

KPMG ambassador earns first victory of 2026 WTA season

February 21, 2026

What an early birthday present for Jess Pegula.

With a straight-sets (6-3, 7-5) victory over Elina Svitolina, Pegula, who celebrates a birthday on Tuesday, took the title of the title of the 2026 Dubai Duty Free Championships, her first win of the season and 10th in her WTA career.

"It's a great birthday present for me," Pegula said. "I'm super happy to go home with the trophy. It was a great week."

Pegula caught fire early in the match, breaking Svitolina's serve three times and taking the opener 6-2. Another break of serve in the second set ultimately proved to be the difference, as Pegula held on to take the second set 6-4.

If Pegula's play over the last several months was any indication, this victory felt almost inevitable. Coming into the week, Pegula was playing some of the best tennis of her career, having made seven consecutive semifinals in WTA competitions. The victory in Dubai was Pegula's first WTA 1000 win since 2024, and sets the table for a big run early in the 2026 season.

Up next is a return to the US for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA. Congratulations, Jess!
