Donald L. Zambarano

Don is the U.S. Sector Leader for Private Equity and the Global Lead Partner for one of KPMG’s largest and most premier global private equity clients. Don also serves as the Managing Partner of the Providence, RI office and on KPMG’s U.S. Board of Directors.

Prior to his current roles, Don spent six years in the audit practice followed by 20 years in the Deal Advisory & Strategy (DAS) practice, holding several national DAS leadership roles including co-leading the Financial Due Diligence practice and leading the Industrial Markets sector.

As a Partner in DAS, Don was responsible for providing advice to corporate and private equity clients on domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Don led over 400 M&A transactions for leading corporations and private equity firms in various sectors, including extensive international experience leading 50+ cross-border deals.

• On the buy side, Don’s focus includes pre-acquisition due diligence, evaluating commercial, financial, operational, accounting and tax aspects of transactions. He also assists with purchase agreements, purchase price adjustments, merger integration & transition, and post-acquisition accounting and reporting.
• On the sell side, Don helps clients prepare businesses, divisions or product groups for sale. In this capacity, Don helps sellers define the business to be sold and develop information bidders need, while considering SEC requirements, post-transaction shared service arrangements, and other key features of the transaction.

Don is actively involved in the community, sitting on the boards of directors of The Izzy Foundation, The Providence Foundation and the Downtown Providence Parks Network, where he also served as Finance Chair. Don is also engaged with the Professional Advisory Council for The RI Foundation and is an Executive Council member for Junior Achievement. He served as the chair of the 2022 American Heart Association Heart Ball.

Don is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is licensed in the states of Rhode Island, New York and Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island and his Master of Business Administration from Babson College.
