Anthony Trapasso
Managing Director, Advisory
Anthony Trapasso is a Managing Director in KPMG’s Advisory practice and a Certified Public Accountant with over 15 years of experience serving State and Local government agencies. He specializes in government regulatory compliance, grants management, and performance auditing, with a focus on Health & Human Services, Medicaid, early education, workforce, and public health programs.
Anthony has a strong track record of leading large-scale, complex compliance engagements across the public sector. He is skilled in applying risk-based methodologies and leveraging innovative, AI-enabled tools to enhance audit quality, strengthen oversight, and improve operational efficiency across the full fiscal lifecycle of government programs. He also leads KPMG’s Program Integrity Services nationally, helping agencies strengthen accountability and maximize the impact of public funding.
In addition to leading compliance and performance audit engagements, Anthony’s experience includes: directing grants management and compliance efforts for major federal funding streams, including COVID-19 relief programs, FEMA, and DHS grants; overseeing Medicaid and Health and Human Services compliance audits, including Managed Care Organization encounter data reviews, fee-for-service cost report audits, Disproportionate Share Hospital program reviews, and wage parity compliance; and conducting enterprise risk assessments and internal control evaluations aligned to Green Book and COSO frameworks.
Anthony also brings deep experience in third-party oversight and monitoring, including managing contract compliance reviews for state authorities and sub-recipient monitoring for programs such as Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), HOME, and Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funding. He regularly advises clients on strengthening governance, risk management, and program integrity practices to meet evolving regulatory requirements and public expectations.
Anthony holds a Master of Business Administration from Iona College and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Iona College, along with a certificate in Business Continuity & Risk Management. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of CPAs, Association of Government Accountants, Healthcare Financial Management Association, New York State Internal Control Association, and the National Association of Medicaid Program Integrity.
