Rema Serafi
Vice Chair - Tax
Rema Serafi is the Vice Chair – Tax at KPMG LLP. In this role, she oversees a team of more than 10,000 partners and professionals across all tax disciplines, including federal, international, state and local, as well as specialty practices such as mergers and acquisitions, economic and valuation services, global mobility services and legal services.
Under Rema’s leadership, KPMG became the first Big Four to establish a US law firm with the launch of KPMG Law US in 2025. KPMG Law US, a wholly owned subsidiary aligned to the firm’s Tax practice, leverages KPMG’s global network of lawyers and investments in cutting-edge technologies to meet market demand for process-driven legal services at scale.
Rema’s extensive experience serving clients in the financial services industry has been a cornerstone of her career. Highlights include serving as a Global Lead Account Partner for a Fortune 100 financial institution for more than five years and providing transfer pricing consulting services to leading multinationals across industries.
Rema has a particular interest in how data analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies transform corporate tax functions. She is dedicated to advancing innovative technology, including the KPMG Digital Gateway platform, to transform the tax profession, elevate tax departments' strategic role, and provide clients with unparalleled value.
Rema is committed to building an agile, future-ready workforce that can navigate industry disruptions. She’s helped develop new training programs and modernized the Tax function’s approach to Learning and Development to equip KPMG Tax professionals with the skills essential for success in a digital, innovation-driven environment. She is also a champion of alternative pathways to CPA licensure, advocating against the traditional “150-hour rule” as part of her commitment to building a strong pipeline of talent to advance the tax and accounting profession.
During her nearly three decades at KPMG, she’s held several leadership positions. From 2020-2023, Rema served as the National Managing Principal – Tax. Prior to this role, she led the Economic and Valuation Services (EVS) practice for five years and held a role as the Americas leader for the firm’s Global Transfer Pricing Financial Services network.
Rema joined the KPMG US partnership in 2003 and served as a member of the firm’s Board Nominating Committee and National Women’s Advisory Board, as well as the board of Enactus, an international nonprofit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to become socially responsible business leaders.
Rema earned her bachelor’s degree from Barnard College and master’s degree in international economics from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs.
