Christian Peo
Vice Chair, Audit
Christian Peo is the Vice Chair, Audit for KPMG US. In this role, Christian leads a team of over 9,000 Audit partners and professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, enhancing audit quality, innovating the audit and driving growth.
Christian previously served as National Managing Partner-Audit Quality and Professional Practice. In this role he oversaw the strategic direction of audit quality control and technical accounting and auditing leadership for both KPMG LLP and KPMG Americas Ltd. This included the firm’s efforts to maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies, designing and implementing changes to improve audit quality and efficiency, and the overall experience for both clients and audit professionals.
Under his tenure, KPMG advanced its efforts to deploy AI in the audit and technology innovation, the use of service centers, and evolve the audit methodology in a transformational effort to improve audit quality and client experience. This has led to the firm’s lowest Part 1.A deficiency rates since 2009 and the Audit practice’s highest ever Net Promoter Scores.
Earlier in his career, Christian received a two-year appointment as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he played a key role in the Commission’s oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and gained a deep understanding of auditing and quality control standards. His experience managing and serving both public and private multi-national companies includes working with audit committees and boards of directors on transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, initial public offerings, spin-off transactions, debt offerings and SEC registrations and filings.
Christian holds a BS in accounting from Brigham Young University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, licensed as a CPA in California and New York.
