Jason Kies
Office Managing Partner – Private Equity
Jason is the Managing Partner for the KPMG Virginia Beach office and surrounding region. In this role, Jason leads our practice in the Virginia Beach community across Audit, Tax, and Advisory and is responsible for driving the KPMG market strategy, developing and inspiring our local team, delivering outstanding client care and growing the KPMG brand and relationships in the market. In addition, Jason is a Global Lead Partner in the KPMG Private Equity practice and has experience in auditing and advising large, diversified, multinational institutions in industries including Private Equity, Insurance, Retail, and Manufacturing. Furthermore, he is proficient in SEC Independence rules, serving as the PE Practice Independence Leader and liaison to the Firm’s Independence Department.
Having spent his whole career at KPMG, he has served in offices located in Virginia, Switzerland, Malta, and New York. Attending VT’s Pamplin College of Business, Jason graduated in 2002 with a BS in Accounting and also received his Master’s in Accounting with a concentration in Financial Services in 2003. Jason is an avid Jimmy Buffett fan and has a passion for exploring the world, having already visited 67 countries. Other hobbies and interests include history, college football, Swiss watches, international relations, foreign policy, languages, reading (especially historical fiction), and spending time with his family.
Jason supports various service and charitable organizations. He currently serves as a Board member of the Pamplin Advisory Council, the main advisory board of the Pamplin College of Business, and is Chair of the Alumni Engagement Committee. Jason also serves as a member of the Pamplin Accounting Department Board and is a past leadership team member of the Pamplin Society, where he still serves as a Senior Advisor. In addition, Jason serves as a Board Member of the Hampton Roads Chamber and the Greater Norfolk Corporation, the Financial Accounting Standards Board and United Way. Jason is also a former governing board member of Reach The World, a charitable organization located in New York.
