Alexander Fong is a senior associate in the KPMG Trade & Customs Practice based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Alex leverages his trade and customs background to help clients on various trade and customs matters including first sale for export, tariff classification, origin determination, domestic procurement, and free trade agreement projects. Alex supports clients in diverse industries, including industrial manufacturing, consumer goods, automotive, and pharmaceuticals.

Alex assists clients in diverse industries, including but not limited to industrial manufacturing, consumer goods, automotive, and pharmaceuticals.

Additional experience includes:

• Assisting clients in first sale for export matters including implementations of new factories and performing risk monitoring assessments on existing factories to ensure compliance.
• Conducting domestic content analysis on solar, BESS, land-based wind, renewable natural gas, and geothermal facilities.
• Conducting country of origin analysis for products for the application of special tariff rates.
• Evaluating and validating product eligibility for preferential tariff treatment under various free trade agreements.
• Assisting clients with goods classifycation under the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
• Conducting research and analyses to determine preferential duty treatment eligibility under domestic procurement requirements.

Alex holds a BA in international studies and a BS in business administration, both from North Carolina State University.
