Pat is a Partner in KPMG’s Chicago Financial Services tax practice. He has over 30 years of tax experience in both the public and private sectors and has been with KPMG for over 20 years. Pat leads the Chicago Financial Services Tax Group and is a member of KPMG’s Global Asset Management Group.
Pat specializes in partnership and corporate taxation providing tax advisory, structuring, and compliance services. He primarily serves public and private hedge funds, private equity funds, credit funds (including Distressed and Mezzanine Debt Funds), registered investment funds, and venture capital companies.
Pat also served as Tax Director for a $3 billion dollar hedge fund. In addition to the compliance function for over 50 entities, Pat was in charge of all tax structuring, which included structuring domestic and cross-border trading, venture capital and private equity deals which crossed over many industry lines (i.e., energy, insurance, real estate). Pat worked closely with the hedge funds venture capital group in equity and debt structuring, reviewing investment documents and structuring to meet the specific needs of its investors. Pat was also directly responsible for the tax and accounting function for the management advisory companies based both domestically and internationally.
Pat spent three years working in KPMG’s tax consulting group at KPMG where he worked on providing high-end structuring services for domestic banking, multi-national insurance and large private funds. This structuring covered all forms of entity types and covered many complex transactions that involved many high-level professionals from within KPMG both domestically and internationally.
