Michael Breen

Mike is an audit partner in the accounting group of the KPMG Department of Professional Practice (DPP). He has more than 25 years of experience that includes performing financial statement audits, providing technical accounting support to engagement teams with, and serving as a practice fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). Mike is also an SEC reviewing partner who serves as an engagement quality control reviewer on tax-exempt bond offerings and technical resource to other professionals across the audit practice. He develops firm policies, guidance, training, publications and other materials on US GAAP accounting and financial reporting matters, with a focus on revenue recognition, compensation and benefits, and the healthcare industry.
During his two years as a practice fellow at the FASB, Mike worked on various standard-setting projects, including the revenue recognition standard and a wide range of emerging implementation issues. He is a licensed CPA in New York and a member of the AICPA, the New York State Society of CPAs, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the SUNY Geneseo School of Business Advisory Council.
