Karen L. Anderson
Director, State & Local Tax, Unclaimed Property
Spanning over 35 years, Karen’s career in business regulation was initiated when she served as a legislative intern and then legislative policy staff person. After law school, she returned to public service as a gubernatorial regulatory policy assistant and later the Illinois Unclaimed Property Administrator. As a new era unfolded in state enforcement of unclaimed property, Karen then became the first Executive Director of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) and led the organization through its creation of a compliance education and training program for businesses.
With her regulatory experience and leadership skills, Karen later joined the private sector to advise and represent numerous companies to bring them into compliance with their unclaimed property reporting responsibilities. Further, Karen has empowered clients with proactive risk mitigation tools, training and development of policies and procedures.
