Having aligned with ISSBTM climate guidance, CDP is collaborating with EFRAG to create further disclosure efficiencies.
Joint mapping efforts of CDP and EFRAG aim to reduce the reporting burden under European Sustainability Reporting Standard (ESRS) E1, Climate change, for reporters who complete a CDP questionnaire. The comprehensive mapping will be available in early 2025 (before the next reporting cycle).
In 2024, CDP aligned its climate questionnaire with IFRS® Sustainability Disclosure Standard IFRS S2, Climate-related Disclosures, issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). As a result, the questionnaire included some new and some updated questions, as well as guidance to help companies understand where and how they can provide information that aligns with IFRS S2.
As a result of ongoing collaboration between CDP and EFRAG, the parties have concluded that there is substantial commonality between CDP’s questionnaire and the ESRS climate standard (ESRS E1).
Once a comprehensive mapping is published, ESRS reporters will find it easier to complete CDP disclosures, while companies completing CDP disclosures will be well prepared for the ESRS E1 reporting requirements.
Through its ongoing collaborative work, CDP hopes to act as a one-stop shop for understanding and disclosing against the relevant framework disclosures and streamline the environmental disclosure process.
CDP plans to align with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework. Key environmental issues, including oceans and land, will be covered by the expanding CDP coverage.
