Survey respondents included independent directors; founders and other executives; investment firm partners, employees, and operating advisors; and family members and ESOP trustees.
Key takeaways include insights on board composition, leadership, and structure, as well as board performance and priorities. The report details findings on the utilization of independent directors and the value that they bring; what private company boards are focusing on and where they believe they can improve; and to what extent boards are engaging with customers, employees, and other stakeholders amid increasing expectations for board oversight of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
