California’s landmark climate disclosure laws (SB 253, SB 261 and AB 1305) will have a significant impact on US subsidiaries of Japanese companies. These regulations mandate extensive public disclosures on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate-related financial risks and the use of carbon offsets, with the initial GHG emissions reporting deadline confirmed for August 2026. Our latest KPMG report provides an essential summary of key deadlines and compliance strategies.
