2026 Supply chain survey: Oil, gas, and chemicals insights
Explore how oil, gas, and chemicals leaders are transforming supply chains with resilience, digital, AI, and talent strategies.
Oil, gas, and chemicals leaders are navigating one of the most complex supply chain environments in recent memory. Cyber threats, supply shortages, regulatory shifts, geopolitical volatility, and multi-tier supplier vulnerabilities are converging to create a complex risk landscape. These risks affect every part of operations, including access to critical materials and equipment. They also threaten the continuity of refineries, plants, and field operations.
Against that backdrop, the KPMG 2026 US supply chain survey reveals a sector moving decisively from incremental improvement to comprehensive transformation. Eight in ten oil, gas, and chemicals respondents are planning a full transformation of their supply chain model within the next three years. This represents the strongest transformation signal across all industries surveyed. Risk and resilience sit at the center of that agenda, with 98 percent of respondents already innovating or planning to innovate in this area.
The top three drivers of supply chain transformation are:
- Operational efficiency and cost reduction
- Digitalization and technology enablement
- Navigating geopolitical uncertainties and market volatility
