Access and Inclusion at KPMG
A message from our CEO
I am proud to lead an organisation committed to embedding inclusion in all aspects of our work, allowing every individual to be themselves.
Following the launch of our inaugural Disability Inclusion Access Plan in 2021, our Access & Inclusion Plan 2024 continues our mission to foster a safe, compassionate and inclusive environment for everyone. To date, we have made strides, but we know there is more to do to accelerate our commitments over the next three years as we prioritise key areas and pursue long-term objectives.
We acknowledge this demands focus, ongoing work and investment, and we are setting rigorous standards for ourselves to ensure accountability.
We are dedicated to championing accessible and inclusive work practices and advancing environments free of barriers for everyone.

A message from our executive sponsor

I am thrilled to be executive sponsor for disability inclusion at KPMG. Like so many Australians, I have family members living with disability; and volunteering as the treasurer for a non-profit in the disability sector, I have seen the amazing impact of creating support and opportunities for people with disability.
We all bring something unique to the table. Inclusion is about understanding that difference is a superpower, and we must create spaces where everyone can contribute and develop.
I'm a 'numbers person' and the figures show there's still a lot of work to do.
What struck me in our firmwide 2023 Global People Survey was that only 3.4% of respondents identified as having a disability, whereas we know an estimated 2.1 million Australians of working age have a disability and only 48% are employed.
We need to expand the number of people with disability who work with KPMG, not only by increasing new hires, but by fostering a culture where our people feel safe to come as they are and develop their careers.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences and insights to help develop this plan - your contributions are instrumental in creating change.

Message from the Australian Disability Network
Congratulations to KPMG Australia on the development of their Access & Inclusion Plan 2024-2026 - demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the inclusion and access of people with disability and fostering a disability confident culture for their employees and clients.
The Access & Inclusion Plan has been developed in partnership with the Australian Disability Network and led by KPMG Australia's Access & Inclusion Taskforce, in consultation with stakeholders and employees with lived experience of disability, neurodiversity and mental health conditions. This partnership approach has focused on listening to the voices of people with lived experience to identify the barriers most meaningful to them that are impacting their full and equitable participation in the workplace.
It is evident through the goals and actions laid out in this plan that KPMG Australia is listening to their people and working towards removing those barriers for employees and clients alike.
KPMG Australia has been a Gold member of the Australian Disability Network since 2018, and we have worked together on numerous projects to refine their systems and processes, develop capability and enshrine the inclusion and access of people with disability into 'business as usual'. We continue to see an ongoing commitment from the firm to do well by their people and clients.
Through implementing the goals and actions outlined in this plan, KPMG Australia will continue to serve as a leading example to other organisations and we wish them every success in delivering on the plan. Together we share and work towards a vision of a disability confident Australia.

Our Access and Inclusion goals
The Access & Inclusion Plan 2024 has been developed in collaboration with the Access & Inclusion Taskforce and Australian Disability Network. Insights in this plan come from stakeholder interviews and focus groups with stakeholders - including KPMG people - with lived experience of disability.
The plan takes inspiration from the Social Model of Disability from the United Nations Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which defines people with disability as: 'Those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which, in interaction with various barriers, may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others'.
Since our first Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) in 2021, we have updated the naming of our plan to KPMG's Access & Inclusion Plan (AIP) in recognition that access to a barrier-free workplace impacts both those who identify as having a disability and those who don't, but still need support or have accessibility requirements, chronic illness, social definitions of disability or experience a mental health condition.
Every person, every possibility.
We aim to ensure inclusion is embedded in everything we do - starting with fostering an environment where all our people can grow and thrive. As we continue the work started in our first plan, going forward we are focused on accelerating the removal of barriers impacting our people. We strive to create deeper connections with our clients and communities outside of KPMG so we can learn from each other and contribute towards creating a more inclusive and accessible society, together.
- To remove barriers within our workplace and empower our people with disability to grow and thrive.
- To be recognised as a disability confident organisation.
- To become an employer of choice for people with disability and be seen as a disability leader within corporate Australia.
- To strengthen our relationships with clients and to partner with them on progressing disability inclusion and accessibility.
