The KPMG U.S. Foundation is proud to announce an expanded multi-year commitment to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) through a grant of $750,000 over the next three years. This funding will support NAMI’s mission to improve mental health care, resources, and support for individuals and families affected by mental illness, with a focus on young adult and diverse populations.
“At KPMG, we are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and well-being for our people and firmly believe that a thriving community begins with the well-being of its individuals,” said Anita Whitehead, President and Chair of the KPMG U.S. Foundation. “Through the KPMG U.S. Foundation, we are proud to form trusted collaborations with organizations like NAMI and support initiatives that align with our vision and mission to promote equity and access to opportunity for all, which includes mental health resources and support within our communities. By working together, we can help break down barriers and create a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and families facing mental health challenges.”
Through this grant, NAMI will primarily focus on youth and young adult initiatives, recognizing the need for mental health support in this demographic. This includes enhancing its youth leadership development programs, strengthening its presence on campuses, and funding peer-support initiatives such as the NAMI HelpLine, support groups, and education programs.
This grant will also help address mental health inequities among diverse populations through NAMI’s cross-cultural innovation and engagement work. This includes creating trust and introducing mental health discussions with cultural sensitivity through outreach programs such as NAMI Sharing Hope and NAMI Compartiendo Esperanza. In addition, this grant will improve access to equitable mental health care for adults of African ancestry through the Community Health Equity Alliance program and provide education and resources to faith leaders and communities through NAMI FaithNet.
This collaboration aligns with the KPMG U.S. Foundation’s commitment to supporting the communities where the firm’s people live and work. Together, the KPMG U.S. Foundation and NAMI will work toward destigmatizing mental health conditions, fostering awareness, and saving lives.
