Professional and industry experience
Mike has extensive experience in providing professional accounting, auditing, and certain advisory services for financial services companies (banking, non-bank lenders, specialty finance and investment vehicles), real estate investment trusts and other real estate owners/operators, hospitality companies and retailers. Related advisory services provided have included transaction due diligence, initial public offering readiness, accounting advisory services for transactions and implementation of new accounting standards, and internal control design and implementation.
Mike’s primarily works with the firm’s SEC-registered clients performing audits pursuant to PCAOB standards. He assists clients with their periodic reporting requirements, and filings for initial and secondary equity and debt offerings, and other transaction-related filings. Mike has also served as a firm resource for certain technical accounting topics such as derivatives, securitizations, financial instruments and stock-based compensation.
Mike is the Office Managing Partner for the Tampa Bay area practice. He has additional professional experience outside of KPMG in various financial and operating capacities with a large insurance carrier and a real estate company (commercial office).
Education / Professional and Civic Activities
Mike is a certified public accountant licensed in the Florida, Virginia and Maryland, D.C., and has been involved with various professional and community organizations including as a board member for several community-based organizations including Junior Achievement, Higher Achievement and the Florida Economic Council. He is also a member of The Copperheads, a Tampa-area charitable fundraising organization comprised of business and community leaders. Mike holds Bachelor of Science degrees in finance and accounting from the University of Maryland – College Park.
