Managing Director, Information Reporting & Withholding Tax
Nelson Suit is a managing director within the KPMG Information Reporting & Withholding Tax Service practice. Nelson helps clients navigate the complexities of both domestic and cross-border tax information reporting and withholding requirements, especially those applicable to financial institutions. His current focus is on cost basis reporting, IRW issues raised by rapidly evolving cryptocurrencies and other digital assets and, more broadly, substantive tax and systems issues related to broker tax reporting.
Prior to joining KPMG, Nelson served as tax compliance officer at Refinitiv and as tax counsel to Scivantage, Inc. handling a wide range of cost basis and broker reporting issues. He also previously headed the logic team at Markit | CTI and helped build and maintain technology solutions for customer tax due diligence and tax withholding and reporting, including a tool developed to manage section 871(m) transactions. Nelson has also consulted on diverse tax transactional and investment funds-related issues in his prior posts at Boston asset manager Wellington Management Company and at international law firms.
Nelson holds a JD degree from Harvard Law School and a BA degree in history from Yale University.
