Michael is a Partner in the KPMG Department of Professional Practice in New York. He leads the Financial Assets and Services topic team covering financial instruments, banking, investment management, broker-dealers and mortgage banking.
Previously, he led the KPMG OnCall Technical Accounting Advisory Services. While there, he also led the risk management function for Accounting Advisory Services. Previously, Michael provided financial statement audits in the KPMG Northeast Financial Services practice focusing on banks, mortgage banks and finance companies.
Additionally, Michael represents KPMG on the AICPA's Depository Institutions Experts Panel and is a member of the AICPA Banks & Savings Institution Conference Committee. He is a contributing author of KPMG publications on credit losses, transfers and servicing, fair value, leasing, consolidations, equity method, financial statement presentation and statement of cash flows. Michael has authored several articles appearing in industry publications on accounting and financial reporting matters and contributes to KPMG Defining Issues.
Within the KPMG Dispute Advisory Practice, Michael has prepared reports for matters before the United States Bankruptcy Court and served as an Expert Witness before a United States District court on matters related to the application of accounting principles generally accepted in the United States. In addition, he has served as an Arbitrator relating to disputes pertaining to business combinations.
