On January 1, 1920, KPMG officially opened its 16th office in Los Angeles. The expansion into Southern California was a significant landmark in the history of the firm, which was founded 23 years earlier in New York City as Marwick, Mitchell, Peat & Co. The Los Angeles office became an important presence in a market that would soon experience tremendous growth. Today, the office has over 1,500 employees, and serves a wide range of clients—from Fortune 1000 companies to middle-market clients and entrepreneurs of all sizes—across media and entertainment, insurance, banking, consumer products, retail, healthcare and life sciences, and government entities.
