Main intake is our primary application window for graduate and vacationer roles. During this period, we open applications for the majority of available positions and review all applications together. Applying during main intake gives you the best chance to be considered for your preferred roles. We do require that you attend an in-person interview process.

Rolling intake begins after the main intake closes. We continue to accept applications for any new or unfilled roles that become available throughout the year. If you apply during rolling intake, your application will be reviewed as new opportunities arise, and we’ll contact you if you’re a match for an open position.

Tip: For the widest choice of roles, we recommend applying during the main intake. However, if you miss that window or new roles open up later, you’re welcome to apply during rolling intake.

      • The Graduate Program starts between February and March the year following offers. We do have limited starts in June for some business areas.
      • The Vacationer Program starts between November and December in the same year you apply. We will be running a limited winter program.
      • The Foundations Program takes place in the September/October tertiary holiday period.

Diversity is important to us at KPMG. We welcome applications from people with all degree backgrounds and experiences, as well as domestic and international students.

Below are the eligibility criteria for our different programs:

      • Graduate Program – be in your final year of study or have recently graduated.
      • Vacationer Program – be in your second-last year of study.
      • Foundations Program – have two years left of study.

You don’t need to have work experience to apply to our programs, but if you do (including casual or part-time work) we recommend including this on your CV.

Absolutely! Here are some tips from our Emerging Talent team to help you put your best foot forward:

      • Be yourself: We want to get to know the real you, your skills, interests, and what motivates you. Let your personality and aspirations shine through at every stage.
      • Keep your CV concise: Aim for a CV that’s no longer than two pages. There’s no need to include a cover letter.
      • Know the key dates: Make a note of application and assessment deadlines so you don’t miss out. Make sure you check your emails so you don’t miss any important updates or deadlines.
      • Do your research: Take time to learn about KPMG, our teams, and the work we do. If you can, attend one of our events on campus or at our offices to get a feel for our culture. If that’s not possible, you’ll find plenty of information on our careers website to help you discover where your skills and interests could fit.
      • Keep an open mind: We have specialist teams across many areas, so explore the different pathways available. You might discover a team or role you hadn’t considered before that’s a great fit for you.
      • Practice for assessments: Prepare for behavioural-based interview questions and use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.

As you move through the process, we’ll share more tips and resources to help you prepare for each stage. Good luck – we’re excited to learn more about you!

For any issues with your application throughout the process, or if you need extra support, you can get in touch with our emerging talent team at gradrecruiting@kpmg.com.au, or you can ask our chatbot Scout. Just click the link at the bottom right-hand side of your screen to get started.

Please note: due to the high volume of applications and queries we receive, responding to your email may take longer than usual.

At KPMG, we’re committed to making our recruitment process accessible and inclusive for everyone. If you have a disability or require adjustments of any kind, please let us know when you apply. Your request will be treated confidentially, and our team will be in touch to discuss how we can best support you.

If you’re unsure what adjustments you might need, or have questions about the process, you can reach out to our Emerging Talent team at gradrecruiting@kpmg.com.au. We’re here to help you demonstrate your full potential and ensure you have a positive experience with us.

Yes! We welcome you to reapply.

Your online assessment results from your last application are valid for 12 months, so you likely won't be asked to do any online assessments this year. We will assess your application with your last online assessment results.

You don’t need to be an Australian resident, but you must have full-time working rights within Australia at the time of your application and for the program dates you are applying to. If you are not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or do not have permanent residency, please make sure you have the following documents:

      • Visa grant notification
      • You may be asked for Superior English test results by an Australian Government approved test provider.

After you submit your application and we confirm you’re eligible for the program, you’ll receive an email invitation to complete our online assessments. These assessments are delivered by our partner, CriteriaCorp, and you’ll need to complete them within 48 hours of receiving the invitation (not 48 hours after submitting your application).

If you haven’t applied for a role with KPMG in the past year, you’ll be asked to complete two assessments. Each takes about 15 minutes. The first is a general cognitive capacity assessment – it’s game-based and measures your problem-solving, numerical reasoning, and verbal knowledge. This assessment is timed. The second assessment focuses on your workplace behaviours and is not timed.

If you’ve applied for a role with us within the last year and have already completed online assessments, you may only be asked to complete one assessment.

      Career pathways

Visit our which team should I join page for information about the different business areas open to graduate and student programs at KPMG.

Yes, but you do this as part of your one application – we do not accept multiple applications.

When you’re submitting your application, you have options to tell us about your preferences and options to select multiple segments or KPMG divisions/business areas.

We look for more than just what’s on your CV. Throughout your application, show us your passion for making a difference, your curiosity, and your drive to find innovative solutions.

      We value:

      • resilience and adaptability
      • progressive thinkers who bring fresh perspectives and communicate their ideas with confidence
      • enthusiasm and a willingness to try new things.

Some teams also require specific qualifications, fields of study, or citizenship or visa status. For more details, see the FAQ ‘Am I eligible?’.

Let your skills, interests, and motivation shine through at every stage of the process. We want to get to know the real you and how you could make an impact at KPMG.

      1. Do your research

Start by learning more about KPMG – our people, our work, and our values. We know you might not have your career path mapped out yet, so we’ve designed four career pathways for our Graduate and Vacationer Programs. Take some time to explore each one and think about which could be the best fit for you.

      2. Submit your application

Applying online is simple. Choose either the graduate or vacationer program job ad, then select your preferred career pathway, segment, KPMG division and team. If you’re open to a range of opportunities or not sure which team is right for you, just list your pathway preferences and we’ll help match you to roles that suit your studies. You’ll also select your preferred office location and upload your CV (keep it under two pages – no cover letter needed).

      3. Complete an online assessment

You’ll be invited to complete two online assessments, which together take about an hour. One is a timed, game-based assessment focused on cognitive skills, and the other is an untimed assessment about your workplace behaviours. You’ll automatically receive your assessment results when you finish.

      4. Attend an assessment centre

If you progress, you’ll be invited to an in-person assessment centre at one of our offices. This is a great chance to meet KPMG team members, network with other candidates, and get a feel for our culture. On the day, you’ll take part in interviews and group activities. It’s also your opportunity to ask us questions and see if KPMG is the right fit for you.

Note: If you apply during rolling intake, your application will be considered for interview after the main intake assessment centres are complete.

      5. Outcome and next steps

If you receive an offer after the assessment centre, congratulations! We’ll stay in touch and help you prepare for your journey with us. If you’re not successful, you can request feedback if you attended a face-to-face meeting, and we’ll invite you to join our Talent Communities so you can stay connected and consider future opportunities.

Because the work we do at KPMG is so varied, we organise our roles into different categories to help match you with the right opportunity. Here’s what each term means:

      • Career pathway: This is the broadest category and groups together related fields of work. You’ll select the pathway that best matches your area of study and interests. For example, if you have an accounting degree, you might choose the ‘Audit, Corporate Finance and Assurance’ pathway.
      • Segment: A segment is a specific area of interest within your chosen pathway. Selecting segment preferences helps us understand the type of work you’re most interested in. For example, within the ‘Business, Consulting, Risk and ESG’ pathway, you’ll find segments like Business Advisory, Compliance and Procurement, Risk, and ESG. Choosing segment preferences is optional.
      • KPMG division: This refers to the broader business division within KPMG. You might know someone in a particular area or have a specific interest in a division. Indicating a preference here is also optional.
      • Team: Teams are the most specific option. If you know exactly which team you’d like to join, you can note this in your application, but it’s not required.

We don’t expect you to know all the details about every team or area at KPMG. Just do your best to select the options that fit your interests and background, and we’ll help match you to the right role.

      Post application

The interviews are designed to help us understand more about you, including your passions and career interests. You’ll be asked about your time at university, extracurricular activities and any work experience.

We use motivational and behavioural based questions, which are related to the skills and behaviours we consider crucial for success at KPMG.

Please also take the opportunity to ask us any questions you have.

Whether you want to develop technical skills, enhance your leadership, or explore new areas, you’ll find plenty of support and resources to help you grow.

Chartered Accountant qualification: If you are successful in a graduate position that requires you to hold a CA professional qualification, KPMG will support you with the cost of the qualification and time off for study. You will also be able to use your personal device to study and complete the exam requirements.
