After completing his degree at the University of St. Gallen, Peter Michael began his career in 1988 at the tax office for the canton of St. Gallen. Staying in the city, he joined KPMG in 1995 to develop its Tax and Legal departments. He was made partner in 1998, taking over responsibility for the St. Gallen office one year later. In 2002, he became a member of KPMG’s Board of Directors/Partners’ Committee, a role he held until 2014. He was also in charge of the Tax function at the Lugano office from 2004 to 2014 and is a member of the National Market Team at KPMG Switzerland.

His work focuses mainly on providing tax support to Swiss medium-sized companies that operate within the country and internationally, assisting both the firms themselves and their owners in all manner of tax matters. As well as extensive experience in procedural law and in criminal law relating to tax offences, he also has a sound knowledge of M&A transactions involving medium-sized companies. As a local lead partner, Peter is also the “Family Doctor” for all issues of his customers in the region Eastern Switzerland.
