Matthias Degen is a Partner in Financial Services and Head of FS Consulting at KPMG Switzerland.
He works with banks, insurance companies and asset management firms to help them improve their performance, manage risk, comply with regulations and transform their operating models to meet the changing needs of the market and their clients. Prior to his current role, he led the FS Risk Consulting practice, where he worked with national and international organizations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their risk functions.
Before joining KPMG, Matthias worked in the US as a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University, where he also served as an external consultant to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), US Department of Treasury, Washington DC and Charles River Associates, Boston. Prior to that, he worked at the Risk Lab Switzerland of ETH Zurich, where he also received his PhD in Financial Mathematics.
