In a nutshell, what does your business group/service line do?
Transaction Services helps clients analyse and execute significant corporate transactions including corporate acquisitions or sales and initial public offerings (IPOs) from a financial perspective. This is often termed 'financial due diligence', but we increasingly see our role as developing to that of a trusted advisor to our clients.
What does the average day look like?
Typical tasks that can be expected of an analyst include the initial compilation and analysis of financial data including identification of trends, performing sector and client research, attending meetings with clients and other transaction stakeholders (such as investment bankers and lawyers), and in general providing support and receiving tasks from your team.
What will I learn in the first year?
In addition to gaining a technical understanding of the overall deal process and rationale, you will further develop soft skills that lend to refining your overall professionalism including working in a team, coordination with external stakeholders, articulation of findings and issues in a clear and concise manner, time management, problem solving and presentation skills.
